Portsmouth Square, 1982 - Brenham Place has been renamed Walter U. Lum Place after an important early Chinese American community figure and civil rights advocate. The student caption regarding the "communist bookstore" reflects the attitude of some in 1982 that anything selling publications from the People's Republic of China must be communist, which was not necessarily the case.
